It certainly has been awhile since I’ve updated this site, but that’s not without good reason. I was recently elected as Secretary of the board of officers for the Atlanta Georgia Table Tennis Association. And yes, I’ve already heard my fill of snickers and male secretary jokes every time I mention that. Since then I’ve been busy redesigning the AGTTA site while juggling half a dozen personal projects that have eaten what is left of my free time and sanity. I’ve been planning on adding some new features to the site that will hopefully help our community grow and socialize more easily. So keep checking back to see the updates. Anyway, enjoy the video.

This is the beginning of the new For Sale section. I can’t even remember how many times I’ve been to the club and I’ve heard someone talk about a new racket or rubber, but doesn’t want to spend $100+ dollars on some equipment they may not even like. Most times though, I meet players who are just Equipment Junkies and enjoy trying out new equipment and gear hoping to get an edge in the next game. These players tend to have many spare rackets and rubbers that just end up collecting dust or sit on a shelf somewhere after they’ve moved onto the next setup that has caught their eye.
The For Sale section is for the Equipment Junkies who are trying to get rid of used equipment, and for players hoping to try out a new set up without having to spend a lot of money. If you live in Atlanta and have NEW or USED equipment that you would like to sell (and which you believe will actually sell), contact me and I’ll put up your listing on Atlanta Table Tennis free of charge. Please have a short description and at least 2-5 photos of the items you want to sell. For now, I am not charging to list items, but that may change depending on how popular the For Sale section gets.
New Mark V Rubber for sale for only $65.00 (blade optional)
Yasaka blade with two brand new Yasaka Mark-V GPS rubbers. The racket has never been used. I assembled this as my spare racket but the grip doesn’t suit me therefore I am offering it for sale at a highly discounted rate. If interested, please contact me below. THE RUBBER CAN BE SOLD SEPARATELY if you’d like.
I play at the Lucky Shoals Gym every Sunday and Tuesday, feel free to stop by and see the racket in person. Thank you.
Photos and Contact info for the seller is located after the jump.
Some nights, when I’m sitting at work all I can think about is heading home, grabbing my gear, and heading to the club to play a few games. But sometimes after a long day at work, sitting in Atlanta traffic, and nursing a lingering migraine, I want to do is sleep as soon as I get through my front door.
Somehow, I think paralympic athlete David Lega doesn’t have that problem. David has set over 14 world records in swimming, plays table tennis, owns his own company, works as a motivational speaker, and has written a book about his experiences without the use of his arms.
This Saturday, November 7, 2009, from 3:00pm – 3:30pm you can meet David Lega. He will be a special guest at the Abilities Expo Atlanta 2009 at the Cobb Galleria Convention Center. David Lega will give lessons and demonstrate adaptive table tennis. There will be 5 wheelchair divisions and 5 standing disabled divisions.
The Atlanta Abilities Expo is FREE. Pre-register to save time.

Manas Reddy Anugu - photo ©2009 Rick Merced
Manas Reddy Anugu is a recent newcomer to Atlanta. He competed in India as a junior and won several tournaments before he made his way to America. While he was living in San Jose, California he coached and competed in several university tournaments in the area. Due to school he now lives in Atlanta. As a coach, Manas specializes in proper stroke production, multi-ball training, services, footwork, proper technique, and even exercise drills to strengthen your core muscles.
After taking a few months off from playing table tennis this past Summer, I somehow decided that it was good idea to get right back into my weekly table tennis routine by going to league night at Lucky Shoals. I had gotten some coaching earlier in the year, and I was pretty confident I that I had ingrained those lessons into my game.
